CHAIRMAN

Tim Goyder

Tim has considerable experience in the resource industry as an executive and investor. He has been involved in the formation and management of a number of publicly-listed and private companies and is currently Chairman of DevEx Resources Ltd (since 2002) and Liontown Resources Ltd (since 2006), both listed on the ASX. Tim has been a director since 2005 (15 years) and was appointed Non- Executive Chairman in September 2020. Tim previously held the position of Executive Chairman and Managing Director.

MANAGING DIRECTOR

Alex Dorsch

Qualifications: BEng (Hons), BFin

Alex was appointed Managing Director of Chalice Mining in November 2018, having joined the Company in late 2017. Alex has lead Chalice through an exceptional recent growth period and was recognised as New/Emerging Leader of the Year in 2020 in the MiningNews awards. Alex has diverse experience in a variety of leadership roles across the resources sector, as a management consultant, engineer, project manager and corporate advisor. Prior to joining Chalice, he was working as a Specialist consultant with the global management consultancy McKinsey & Company. He commenced his engineering career with resources giant BHP in Adelaide, and then spent over six years as an engineer in oil and gas exploration.

Alex holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (first class Honours) and a Bachelor of Finance from the University of Adelaide.

LEAD INDEPENDENT DIRECTOR

Morgan Ball

Qualifications: B.Com, CA, F Fin

Morgan is a Chartered Accountant with over 25 years of Australian and international experience in the resources, logistics and finance industries. Morgan is Chief Financial Officer at Northern Star Resources. Previous roles have included Chief Financial Officer at Saracen Minerals, Managing Director and CFO of ASX-listed iron ore producer BC Iron Ltd, CFO & Company Secretary of Indago Resources, along with senior commercial roles at WMC Resources, Brambles and P&O.  

Morgan is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Western Australia. Mr Ball has been a member of the Council of Presbyterian Ladies College since 2013 and Chairs their Finance & Audit Committee. Morgan was appointed Lead Independent Director of Chalice in June 2016 (5 years).  

NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Stephen Quin

Qualifications: P Geo

Stephen is a geologist with 40 years’ experience in the mining and exploration industry. Stephen is based in Vancouver, Canada, and until December 2020, spent 10 years as the President & CEO of Midas Gold Corp. Prior to Midas Gold, Stephen was President and COO of TSX listed copper producer Capstone Mining Corp. and, up until its merger with Capstone, President and CEO of TSX listed copper producer Sherwood Copper Corp. Prior to joining Sherwood, Stephen spent 18 years as Vice President and subsequently Executive Vice President of TSX listed Miramar Mining Corporation, a Canadian focused gold producer and developer. Stephen has extensive experience in the resources sector, and in the financing, development and operation of production companies.

Stephen is a member of the Audit and Risk Committee and Remuneration Committee and has been an Independent Non-executive Director of Chalice since 2010 (11 years).

NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Garret Dixon

Qualifications: BEng (Hons), MBA 

Garret has extensive experience in the resources and mining contracting sectors in Australia and overseas. His work in both private and ASX listed companies spans more than three decades, having worked in senior executive roles for major mine owners, mine operators and contractors. Until recently, Garret held the position of Executive VP Alcoa & President Bauxite where he was responsible for the global bauxite mining business for the NYSE listed Alcoa Corporation. Previous roles have also included Executive General Manager of Henry Walker Eltin Ltd and Managing Director of ASX listed Gindalbie Metals Ltd.

Garret has a Bachelor of Engineering, Civil (Hons) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA), and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Garret joined Chalice in August 2020. 

NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Stephen McIntosh

Qualifications: BSc, MSc (Hons)

Stephen is an internationally recognised figure in the mining industry, with a global career spanning over 33 years. Most recently he was a member of the Executive Committee for Rio Tinto and held the position of Group Executive, Growth & Innovation and Health, Safety, Environment & Security. In his latter role, he was directly accountable for staff in over 30 countries covering most of Rio’s global technical functions including exploration, evaluation, construction, asset closure and IT, and for the last year led the global health, safety, environment and security function.  In his Growth & Innovation role, Mr McIntosh was accountable for more than 3,500 staff alongside, ~ 6,000 construction contractors annually. Prior to that role Stephen was Rio’s global Head of Exploration.  He has been involved in the discovery, evaluation and development of multiple major projects across a diverse range of commodities.

Stephen has a Masters of Science (Geology & Physics) and is a Fellow of both the Society of Economic Geologists and the Australian Institute of Mining & Metallurgy. He is also a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Stephen joined Chalice in February 2021. 

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Richard Hacker

Qualifications: B.Com, AGIA ACIS

Richard is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Secretary with over 20 years of professional and corporate experience in the energy and resources sector in Australia and the United Kingdom. Richard has previously worked in senior finance roles with global energy companies including Woodside Petroleum Ltd and Centrica Plc. Prior to this, Richard was in private practice with major accounting practices. Richard is a Non-executive Director of DevEx Resources Ltd, and until recently, was the Chief Financial Officer of Liontown Resources Ltd, both ASX listed. Richard joined Chalice in 2005 (16 years). 

GENERAL MANAGER – EXPLORATION

Kevin Frost

Qualifications: BSc (Hons) PhD MAIG

Dr. Frost is an exploration geologist with over 25yrs experience in mostly senior roles with a range of mining companies from junior explorers through to international mining houses. Dr. Frost has a solid understanding of economic geology from a background in project generation and evaluation of exploration projects from grass roots through to mining, and in 2009 he was a joint recipient of the AMEC Prospectors award for the discovery of the Spotted Quoll nickel sulphide deposit located in the Forrestania greenstone belt of Western Australia. Dr. Frost was also responsible for Western Area Limited’s first significant nickel sulphide discovery (Flying Fox, 2003) which propelled Western Areas through to its current position as a dominant player in the nickel sulphide market. Dr. Frost was part of Western Area’s team that progressed both nickel sulphide discoveries through to feasibility studies and ultimately through to mine production. Dr. Frost is a member of the Australian Institute of Geologists. Kevin joined Chalice in March 2016. 
 

GENERAL MANAGER - DEVELOPMENT

Bruce Kendall

Qualifications: BSc (Hons) MAIG

Bruce has over 20 years' technical and executive experience in the exploration industry with companies such as AngloGold Ashanti, Independence Group, Jabiru Metals and Blackham Resources. He has expertise across the mineral exploration value-chain, from greenfield exploration to mining feasibility, and possesses significant strategic, business development and project evaluation experience. Bruce has been involved in several discoveries including the world-class Tropicana gold deposit in Western Australia for which he was the joint recipient of AMEC's Prospector of the Year Award in 2012. Bruce joined Chalice in 2019, and was appointed General Manager of Corporate Development in October 2019. 

 

GENERAL MANAGER ENVIRONMENT AND COMMUNITY

Soo Carney

Qualifications: B.Nat.Res.(Hons) PhD

Dr Carney is a proven leader in the mining industry, with over 20 years of experience specialising in environment, health and safety, indigenous affairs, government relations and community investment. Most recently, she held the role of Regional Environment Manager for Alcoa’s mining, refining and smelting operations in Australia, providing leadership on environmental standards, risk management and performance.  Soo was also a member of Alcoa of Australia’s senior leadership team and the Company’s global environment leadership team, contributing to the delivery of the global Environment and Sustainability strategy. She has previously held senior Health, Safety and Environment leadership roles across BHP’s iron ore operations in Western Australia, including for the $20 billion Outer Harbour Development, and at Woodside Energy’s Pluto LNG Project.

Soo holds a PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology as well as a Bachelor of Natural Resources with Honours. She was awarded her Doctorate at The University of Adelaide under a full Research Council of Australia (Industry) scholarship. Soo joined Chalice in March 2021. 

STUDY MANAGER - JULIMAR PROJECT

Michael Elias

Qualifications: BEng (Hons), M. Phil. Economics

Michael is a commercially astute Study Director experienced in defining high value growth strategies for complex resource development projects. He brings over 30 years of experience in study management, project development, engineering and management consulting.

Michael has worked on development projects across base and precious metals as well as several bulk commodities. He has led studies for major mining houses, resource juniors and infrastructure developers across the globe. Michael’s early career included roles with global engineering services provider Fluor Corporation and strategy consultant McKinsey & Company. Michael joined Chalice in April 2021. 

COMPANY SECRETARY

Jamie Armes

Qualifications: BBus, CA

Jamie is a Chartered Accountant who has over 20 years' experience within the accounting profession and the administration of public listed companies in the mining and exploration industry. Jamie joined Chalice in June 2019. 

 

LEGAL AND CORPORATE FINANCE MANAGER

Chris MacKinnon

Qualifications: B.LLB, GradDipAppFin, ASA

Chris is a qualified lawyer with over 13 years of legal and finance experience in the resources industry. Chris has previously worked in corporate finance and legal roles in Carnarvon Petroleum and Australis Oil & Gas. Prior to that, he was an Associate Director at boutique investment bank, Miro Advisors, and was in legal private practice in a major national law firm.

Chris holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western Australia, a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance from Kaplan and is currently an Associate member of CPA Australia. Chris joined Chalice in July 2020. 

FINANCE MANAGER

Leanne Stevens

Qualifications: B.Com, AGIA ACIS

Leanne is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Secretary who has over 18 years of accounting and governance experience within the mining and energy industries. Leanne was formerly Company Secretary for Chalice and Liontown Resources Ltd. 

Leanne joined Chalice as Finance Manager in April 2010 and was appointed Company Secretary from 2012 to 2019. 

COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

Amelia Walker

Qualifications: B.MassComm

Amelia is a marketing and communications specialist with over 18 years’ experience across a broad range of industries, including the mining and exploration sector, events and hospitality. Prior to working for Chalice, Amelia has held senior marketing roles for Crown Resorts and InterContinetal Resorts. Amelia has also managed communications for Liontown Resources Ltd, DevEx Resources Ltd and PhosEnergy Ltd.

Amelia holds a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Marketing and Public Relations at Curtin University. Amelia joined Chalice in July 2018.
